CDC taskforce readies preliminary draft of new Constitution: The taskforce of Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) formed to prepare an integrated draft of the new Constitution has prepared the preliminary draft on June 26. The draft was tabled at the CDC of the Constituent Assembly (CA). After endorsement, it will be presented to the CA. Taskforce members say the draft was submitted to the CDC despite failing to resolve some of the disputes. Kantipur Online, June 27, 2015.

PDCC meet failed to arrive at consensus: A sub-committee formed by Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (PDCC) on June 10 failed to arrive at consensus electoral system for upper house, provincial parliament and granting citizenship through mother. The sub-committee was also divided on the number of constitutional commissions to be formed in the new set-up. The sub-committee members will be holding separate and joint discussions with the top leaders of their respective parties in a bid to forge consensus on the disputed issues. Kantipur Online, June 11, 2015.

NC and CPN-UML 'to accept' 60-40 poll model if federalism row is sorted: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) said that they would accept Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) proposal of a mixed model electoral system-60 percent direct and 40 percent proportional-provided they reach consensus on federalism. During a four-party meeting on June 2, the UCPN-M proposed to elect 40 percent representatives through the proportional system and the rest under the first-past-the-post.
