JTMMP refuses to handover arms until amicable settlement with the Government: Subash Chandra Singh, a member of the talk team formed by armed outfit Janatantrik Terai Madheshi Mukti Party (JTMMP) to hold dialogue with the Government, on March 26 said has said that the group would not handover its arms until the dialogue reached a conclusion. Singh, who is also the Mithila command-in-charge of the group, said that the group was making preparations for a second round of talks with the Government. Inseconline, March 27, 2012.

UCPN-M on the verge of split if deeply entrenched factionalism and internal contradictions not immediately addressed, says UCPN-M chairman Prachanda: Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda on March 19 told the party's Central Committee (CC) members loyal to him that the party is heading toward imminent split or dissolution if current differences within UCPN-M are not resolved immediately. "The party is teetering on the brink of a split; it will dissolve even if it doesn´t split. So we should put in our best efforts to save the party," a participant quoted Dahal as telling the emergency meeting of around 100 CC members. Republica, March 20, 2012.

13 PLA cantonments to be closed down by March 10: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai led Special Committee on February 29 decided to shut down 13 People's Liberation Army (PLA) cantonments and relocate Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) combatants opting for integration to the remaining 15 cantonments within the next 10 days. The move follows a petition to the Prime Minister on February 28 by Nepali Congress (NC) and Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) members of the committee, calling for immediate progress on the stalled peace process. ekantipur, March 1, 2012.
