Handing over Government leadership to NC would be 'suicidal', says PM Baburam Bhattarai: Prime Minister (PM) Dr Baburam Bhattarai on September 26 said that to hand over the Government leadership to Nepali Congress (NC) in the present circumstances will be 'suicidal'. He claimed that if both the President and the Prime Minister are from NC then the party will postpone elections until the environment is conducive enough for it to win the elections. Nepal News , September 27, 2012.

Opposition parties to protest to oust Baburam Bhattarai led Government: A meeting of the 13 opposition parties, including the Nepali Congress (NC), Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and Mohan Baidya-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-Maoist- Baidya), held at the call of NC at its headquarters on September 24 decided to launch stringent protests to oust the Baburam Bhattarai-led Government. The meeting concluded that the ruling alliance is bent on prolonging its stay in power. Nepal News , September 25, 2012.

Four major political forces decide to go for fresh CA election: The major four political forces- Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M), Nepal Congress (NC), Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and the United Democratic Madheshi Front (UDMF) - on September 19 decided to go for fresh Constituent Assembly (CA) election as they failed to agree on reinstatement of the dissolved CA.

Finance Ministry allocates NPR 819.59 million to provide financial package to former PLA combatants who have chosen voluntary retirement: The Ministry of Finance on September 15 has allocated NPR 819.59 million with a view to concluding the ongoing peace process by providing financial package to the former People's Liberation Army (PLA) combatants who have chosen voluntary retirement. Officials at the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) Secretariat, which is responsible for monitoring, rehabilitation and integration of former Maoist combatants, said that the PLA combatants opting for voluntary retirement will get NPR 500,000 to 800,000 along with travel expense. Nepal News, September 15, 2012.

CPN-Maoist-Mohan Baidya submits a memorandum with the list of 70 demands to the Government: Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist-Mohan Baidya faction (CPN-Maoist-Mohan Baidya) submitted a memorandum with the list of 70 demands to the Government on September 10. A delegation led by CPN-Maoist-Mohan Baidya's 'vice chairman' C.P Gajurel handed over the memorandum to Prime Minster Baburam Bhattarai at his office. Nepal News, September 11, 2012.

PM warns of 'stern step' over delay in promulgating of ordinances: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on September 8 threatened to take "stern step" if President Ram Baran Yadav rejected the ordinances presented to him by the Government for certification. Bhattarai said the Government would take tough steps if the ordinances were not approved. Nepal News, September 9, 2012.

USA removes UCPN-M from its terrorist list: Unites States of America (USA) has removed the Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) from its global terrorist organisations list. It stated that the party has demonstrated a credible commitment to pursuing the peace and reconciliation process in Nepal. Nepal News, September 7, 2012.

Mohan Baidya faction to present 70-point demand to Government: Mohan Baidya-led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-Maoist-Baidya) 'chairman' Mohan Baidya on September 5 said that his party was going to present a 70-point demand before launching a peaceful protest movement to make it to power. He further warned that his party would take up arms if the demands were not addressed. The 70-point demand would also include the 40 demands the then Maoist party had presented to the Government before launching the armed insurrection in 1996. Nepal News, September 7, 2012.

UCPN-M chairman Prachanda and Mohan Baidya agree to divide party property: Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) 'chairman' Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda and Mohan Baidya led Communist party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Baidya) 'chairperson' Mohan Baidya on September 3 agreed to share the property of the party between the two parties. A meeting of the taskforce formed for resolving the dispute over the ownership of party property Monday morning took the decision to this effect. Nepal News, September 4, 2012.
