NC, CPN-UML and UCPN-M decide to form five parliamentary committees: Nepali Congress (NC), Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) and Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-M) on March 27 decided to form five parliamentary committees. The meeting also decided to form a separate parliamentary committee to investigate the alleged poll-rigging during November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) elections. Himalayan Times, March 27, 2014.

CPN-UML asks Government to declare local election date without further delay: The Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) asked the Government to declare the date for local election without further delay. Government launches CMP vowing to frame new constitution within a year: The coalition Government of Nepali Congress (NC) and the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) on March 19 launched its 13-page Common Minimum Programme (CMP) vowing to frame a new constitution within a year, complete the remaining tasks of peace process as soon as possible and immediately fill vacancies in the constitutional bodies. Unveiling the CMP, Minister for Information and Communications Minendra Rijal said the Government would have zero tolerance against corruption. Himalayan Times, March 19, 2014.

NC and CPN-UML planning to skip 'authentication' altogether from the CA Rules: After contending with the problem as to who - the President or the Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman - should authenticate a new constitution for days, the Nepali Congress (NC) and the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) that are sharply divided over the matter are planning to skip the term 'authentication' altogether from the CA Rules, currently being drafted. It is likely that the two coalition partners would settle for the term 'certification'. Himalayan Times, March 10, 2014.

CA Regulations Drafting Committee extends for the second time: Prime The term of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Regulations Drafting Committee has been extended for the second time. The 49-member committee formed on February 12, 2014, has been granted a 10-day extension to finalise the operations regulations for the CA last week. However, another extension was proposed after the political parties failed to forge consensus even on March 3 on whether to manage whip system in the CA. Nepal News, March 4, 2014.

Prime Minister Sushil Koirala assures a new constitution within a year: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on February 28 assured that the country will have its new constitution within a year.
